The Challenge

Our challenge was to navigate the complexities of the BOS, which requires proponents of major developments—such as infrastructure, renewables, or urban expansion—to assess and offset biodiversity impacts. Clients often struggle with interpreting and navigating the legislative frameworks. Ascent Ecology was engaged to deliver BSA applications, offering tailored ecological solutions that translated complex legislative requirements into practical conservation outcomes.

Our Solution

Ascent Ecology delivered full-scope support for BSAs under the BOS framework. We conducted preliminary site assessments to determine application suitability, carried out vegetation as well as targeted flora and fauna surveys, and completed full end-to-end reporting for BSA applications. Our team successfully produced regulator-ready documentation to supply biodiversity credits into the BOS Biodiversity Credit Market, consistently meeting requirements that facilitated speedy approval.

The Result

We worked closely with regional and rural landholders to guide them through the complex BSA process, offering clarity and confidence at each stage. Our use of new technology including drone captured aerial imagery and LiDAR facilitated accurate, cost and time efficient assessment. Our refined systems enabled us to deliver high quality assessments and reports swiftly, ensuring documentation met regulatory standards and supporting the timely delivery of biodiversity credits to the BOS market.
